2 Survey Details
2.1 Dates of erosion monitoring survey: Since 1991
2.1 Water/wind erosion? Wind
2.3 Area monitored: Farm of 1000ha in Brandenburg, including erosion plot (2.25ha).
2.4 Character of area: Fluvial deposits, sandy soils, flat.
2.5 Frequency of monitoring: Erosion plot 1991-94, continual since 1994, Bare fields in Spring, Seasonal.
2.6 What fraction of fields in the monitored area were included in the survey? See 2.5.
2.7 How were estimates of erosion made? Erosion plot and field observations: measurements with two sampler designs, estimation of deposits at the field boundary.
2.8 Were air photographs used? No.
2.9 For each erosion site, information recorded:
a) Erosion Plot Wind speed, wind direction, temperature, surface moisture, soil transport, every 10 minutes.
b) Field Observations Wind speed, wind direction, crop growth.

2.10 Data obtained from elsewhere: Soil types and field sizes from maps.
2.11 Data calculated from above information: Transport rate, soil loss.
2.12 Meteorological station density and type: 1 station in the centre of the area, wind speed in 10, 4 and 1m, wind direction, air humidity, air temperature in 3 and 1m, soil temperature in 10 and 20 cm, surface moisture (IR-Reflexion).
2.13 Length of record of meteorological data: Since 1991.
3. Associated Work
3.1 Associated experimental or plot-based work: Wind tunnel studies, temporal changes.
3.2 Associated modelling work: Influence of corn and sugar beet on wind.
