First Joint Working Groups Meeting Bratislava, Slovakia - 10th October 2004Preliminary ProgrammeSymposium OrganisersCOST 634 'On- and Off-site Environmental Impacts of Runoff and Erosion'
Objectives and scopeThe main objective of the Action is to develop an integrated understanding of on- and off-site impacts of soil erosion at the catchment scale. This requires the development of tools as well as methodologies to support decision making for the sustainable management of erosion-sensitive areas at the farm level, including the implementation of soil protection measures. This is an opportunity to influence the direction of European research on the impact of runoff and erosion. Please look at the technical annexe for this COST action. This sets out the broad aims for participants of the action, but the particular objective of our first meeting is to define the particular focus of our meetings over the next four years, and the themes of the publications that we expect to follow from them. COST supports attendance at meetings, and not research directly, but provides a forum to network with potential partners across Europe, and so can prove a springboard to research applications. The 1st day of the meeting concerns the 'Policy issues in the implementation of sustainable land use', through national contributions. The objective is to give an overview on conservation policy and practice (i.e. what is happening in the diffrent countries). The 2nd and the 3rd day will be devoted to discussions in Working Groups, introduced by Key Note papers, and plenary session. Participants will have the possibility to present posters or other documents. If you would like to make a brief (5 minute) contribution to the discussion of our future priorities, please inform Anne-Véronique Auzet and your national COST634 representative. There is support for a number of delegates (maximum 4 per country) to the conference Scientific CommitteeA. V. Auzet (France), Pavol Bielek (SK), John Boardman (UK), R. Bujnovski (SK), K.
